Right now the Oregon House of Representatives is debating a bill that “exempts small modular reactors from certain siting restrictions that apply to nuclear-fueled thermal power plants” according to The Oregonian.

Nuclear power is in no way a safe and renewable energy. Storing nuclear waste is impossible.

In 1980, Oregon voters passed Measure 7 which mandated that voters must approve a nuclear disposal site for a reactor in the state, The current bill would potentially violate ORS 469.595 and ORS 469.597 setting the state up for a costly legal battle.

Please ask Rep. Deborah Boone to oppose the bill by sending an e-mail to Rep.DeborahBoone@state.or.us
